Happy 7 Months!

Madeleine is 7 months old today!  I can't believe how fast the time is going.  It seems like just yesterday she was born!  But, then in other ways, it seems like it's been so long.  I can't remember anymore how little she felt in my arms the first time I held her.

• She's 13lbs 7oz now.  
• She crawls, but only backwards.
• She loves to eat real food!  Her favorite is sweet potato!
• She's sleeping in her crib, and sleeping through the night.
• Her favorite toy is her stuffed Hungry Hungry Caterpillar.
• We read Goodnight Moon before bed every night.
• She's doing a pretty good job of going from a crawling position to sitting.
• She still only has those bottom two teeth, and that toothy grin melts my heart.
• She is honestly the happiest baby I have ever met.  

Happy 2nd Anniversary J & L

I can't believe it's already been two years!  And, you've added Mr. Blake to the mix!  It seems so long ago, and yet like it was just yesterday!

Your wedding is still one of the best I've ever been to!

I love you both so much and I wish you so very many more anniversaries to come!  <3

Fathers Day 2012

Ryan got his Father's Day gifts early this year so he could actually use on of them on Father's Day.

First up, the gift he's been wanting for several years now:

WEBER GRILL!  He's pretty excited, but we have to go get a new LP tank before he can actually use it, since we ran out of gas about a week ago!

BFFs

Stevie loves M.  And M loves Stevie.  It cracks me up how her little face lights up when Steve comes to love on her!

Pool time!

It's in the 90's here today, so we decided to bust out the kiddie pool and have Maddie try it out.  I didn't really know what to expect.  She seemed to enjoy herself, but not as much as when she's in the bath.  Next time, I think I'll have to let the water warm up a little more!

She loved her bathing suit.  My mom and I are starting to think that her favorite color is blue since she always seems to prefer to grab blue things...so I guess we picked a good suit :)

 So excited in anticipation of getting into the pool!

Playing Hookey!

Madeleine got to play hookey from school yesterday.  Around 11, I got a call from the school saying there was an area-wide power outage and I needed to come get M.  I didn't realize how bad the power outage was until I started driving to daycare and found the street lights were out miles away.  The power was also out at my house.

So, I had to call grandma to see if she could watch my munchkin so I could head back to work.  Of course she was more than willing to get some extra cuddle time with M, so I dropped her off around noon.

She had lots of fun with grandma, as you can see:

In other news, I think baby might be teething again.  She just cut two teeth about a week ago and we're getting all the tell-tale signs again.  I guess I'll find out in a few days if any teeth pop through or not!

Toys!!!

We had a bib/dryer mishap in MN which resulted in a number of M's bibs getting melted.  So....we made a trip up to BBB today to get some more.

While there, we decided to get M some new toys.  In the last week or so, she has really started to master sitting up on her own and become even more interested in her toys.  So, we figured we'd get her some toys that were more geared toward sitting up to play with them.

Yep, she's a fan!

6 Month Pictures

As I learned today, the month stickers aren't such a great idea at the 6 month mark...and I'm going to assume after.

This is what Madeleine thought of her sticker...and why we only got a few pictures, lol.

6 Month Appointment

Back from our 6 month appointment! She's 12lb 7oz (2%), 23 1/4" (2%) and a head circ of 16 1/4" (9%). The ped was absolutely amazed that she's hit every single one of her 6 month milestones. She actually said she wouldn't have expected that in her wildest dreams.

My ped and another ped (2nd opinion) both agreed that she does not need a helmet and her head will eventually round out on her own, but that I could talk with Ryan and she'd give us a referral to the specialist at DMC if we wanted to speak with them further about it. I haven't decided yet...I'm going to talk to Ryan. But, my ped showed me a bunch of studies by the University of Michigan that showed with mild positional plagiocephaly by the age of 4 there is really no difference between the kids with our without a helmet.

...Only one area of concern: The crease in one of her thighs is much deeper than the other (asymmetrical) so she wants to keep an eye on it. She said she didn't see it effecting movement or baring weight so she's not concerned, but it's worth watching.

She wants us to try moving her back to the crib to sleep on her belly or side once we are both over our illnesses...that way we can keep her off her head for another 12 hours a day. She also wants us to up her purees to 2-3 times a day since she is doing so well with them. She also said we should start giving her things that are easily mushed up in her mouth and that you wouldn't need molars for in a few weeks.

She did great with her shots. She didn't even react to the first one, but started crying after the second. But she calmed down in about 5 minutes. We'll see how she's feeling after daycare today b/c one shot causes fever in 1 out of 5 babies. And that's all she wrote folks.

 

As for her 6 month photos, we'll be taking those this weekend and I'll try to post them here as well!
